Let's face it, we all love our cats. And we all believe we love them like no one else could ever love their cat. My cats are my family, my best friends, my comfort. For some reason when people say they are like my kids (of which I have none!) I balk at that. Don't ask me why. I think it's just something in my nature. I don't own them. They are family, they live with me and I give them love and attention and take the best care I can of them. I feed them well, try to find toys they enjoy and build box towers for Tomato (he's up there on the right!) who only seems to like cardboard. He has ignored every scratching post and cat bed that I have tried so I have given in. If it's a cardboard tower he wants, it's a cardboard tower he will get. Samantha, on the other hand, only likes the best. Fluffy warm cat bed and she is over the moon!

I get cat gifts! Don't we all? When your family and friends know how much you treasure your furry friends they can, and often will, buy every cat product they find. I have received some awesome cat gifts. My mom and dad bought me a hand carved wooden cat statue in Africa. I love it. It has a prominent place in my home. It also has some tradition to it where they bought it. I have a cute wood carved frame that has Cat sayings all over it. And China's proud picture front and center in it.

I also have a small cat candle holder. Actually I have about 10 of those. Some I donate to Goodwill. Some I stick in a box, hoping one day I will see the appeal.

I see it as very simple: I love cats, and I like some cat items. But I don't really want my home to be a cat museum. So if you are shopping for pet gifts of any kind, think about what you are buying and how the recipient will use it. Think of where it might end up. Personal gifts are (almost) always good. If it's really cute, or really funny, or (especially!) really unique, then go for it! And just remember, cat gifts can be classy too!
