Everyone I'm sure, has
their opinions on pet insurance. I'm a believer. I don't
want to spend a lot on it but at the same time I've been on the other
end of it and dealing with the stress of a sick family pet and their
death is a very stressful time and adding a financial burden to that
certainly doesn't help.
When my first cat,
China, got sick towards the end of her life she was about 15 years
old, and even though we knew that age was probably a factor I still
needed to make sure we did everything we could to take great care of
her. The vet bills were quite steep. In the final week
alone, I
spent almost $800 on vet bills and cremation. It was a burden
and one I paid but tried to ignore in my grief. My next cat got
an eye infection about two months after I got her (and two months
after China passed away) ~ nothing like adding that midnight pet
emergency room visit to the bills! So with the next cats, I
started to investigate different insurance options. Just like
human insurance, there are many options. Some take pre-existing
conditions and some don't. Some don't have age requirements and
some do. You just need to shop around and find what's best for
you. We have some options posted throughout our site for you to
